Climbing Unemployment Numbers

Will we recover? Tomorrow the jobless rate for the London – St. Thomas region will be revealed, and some fear it may climb even higher than our record-setting rate. Last month it stood at nine percent, still the highest for a major city in the country. CTV London’s Sean Irvine has the more on the anxiety of those looking for work.

 

More Eyes in the Sky?

They’re already a staple downtown, and now surveillance cameras could soon be installed throughout most of the Dundas Street corridor to the eastern edge of the city. City council is considering two separate proposals, one for the Old East Village and the other for the Argyle Business District. CTV London’s Bryan Bicknell has the details.

Critics have called a downtown renovation project by Youth Opportunities Unlimited extravagant, over budget and frustratingly behind schedule.  But the non-profit organization that helps troubled youth is defending the cornerstone project at York and Richmond Streets by opening its doors and providing special access to CTV News.
